We will study different ways poetry and songs are written and performed and then use what we discover to make our own.

This activity will help prepare for the 100 point challenge in the Summer Challenge Program.

Topics and Activities:

-break down basic elements of poems and songs

-consider how they are created

-break down basic elements of performing

-consider how a performance is generated

-look at successful artists’ tips on writing and performing

-write a poem and set it to music as a group

-practice performing individually

Participants will be encouraged to plan for the Music/Poetry Performance activity either later that day or on separate occasion.

This is an event participants perform a poem or song aloud to an audience. Material can also be written by the participant, but does not have to be. Each participant will receive 100 challenge points for their performance!
